Aberdeen Group, formally known as Aberdeen Asset Management PLC, was a prominent UK-based global asset management firm. Established in 1983, it grew to become one of Europe’s largest independent investment managers, renowned for its expertise across a range of asset classes, particularly emerging market equities and property.

In 2017, Aberdeen Asset Management undertook a significant merger with Standard Life plc, creating Standard Life Aberdeen plc. This strategic combination aimed to build a diversified global investment and savings powerhouse. Following further evolution and a simplification of its brand, the combined entity rebranded to Abrdn plc in 2021. While “Aberdeen Group” no longer exists as a standalone listed company, its heritage and investment capabilities are central to the present-day Abrdn business.
